Captain Marvelous Charters ("CMC," "we," "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect through sailmarvelous.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. In short: we collect only what you choose to send us, we use it to plan your trip, and we never sell it.
Who we are
CMC is a skippered sailing charter business operated by Wanuh, LLC, a Texas limited liability company doing business as Captain Marvelous Charters, based in Austin, Texas, USA. Wanuh, LLC is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. You can reach us at crew@sailmarvelous.com.
What we collect
Information you give us. When you use our trip-request form or email us, we receive what you choose to share, which may include:
- your name and email address
- your group's size and age ranges
- your preferred destination, dates, and how you heard about us
- anything else you write in your message
If you go on to book a trip, we may also ask for details needed to arrange it, such as the names of your crew, travel details, and dietary needs. We don't collect payment card numbers through this website.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes basic technical data when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you request. This is used to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. If we use website analytics, we use privacy-friendly tools that don't use cookies or track you across other sites.
Cookies
The CMC website does not use cookies for advertising or tracking. If that changes, we'll update this policy and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
How we use your information
- to reply to your inquiry and plan and quote your trip
- to arrange your charter, including booking a yacht and any extra crew
- to match solo travelers and couples with suitable shared trips
- to communicate with you before, during, and after your trip
- to meet our legal, safety, and accounting obligations
We don't send marketing emails unless you've asked to hear from us, and you can opt out at any time.
Legal basis (for visitors in the EU and UK)
We process your information to take steps you've asked for before entering into a contract (such as answering your inquiry and preparing a quote), to perform our contract with you once you book, to comply with legal obligations, and for our legitimate interest in running and protecting our business. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
Who we share it with
CMC never sells or rents your personal information. We share it only as needed to run our service:
- Charter companies and marinas, when you book, so they can provide your yacht.
- Additional crew you've asked us to arrange, such as a first mate or chef.
- Partner charter companies, captains, and brokers, if you've asked us to refer you to them, for example when we can't captain your dates.
- Service providers that host our website and email, including Cloudflare and Google. They process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments.
- Authorities, when required by law, such as customs and immigration crew lists for international voyages.
International transfers
We're based in the United States, and our service providers may store data in the US and other countries. Our trips take place in the Caribbean and the Mediterranean, so some information is necessarily shared with providers in those regions. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers.
How long we keep it
We keep inquiry emails for up to three years so we can follow up on trips you've discussed with us, and booking records for as long as needed for tax and legal purposes. You can ask us to delete your information sooner.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to receive a copy of it. To make a request, email crew@sailmarvelous.com. We'll respond within 30 days. If you're in the EU or UK, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Security
We use reputable, secure providers and limit access to your information to the people who need it to plan your trip. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you share with us.
Children
This website is intended for adults, and our trips are for adults only. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
